Are you suffering from headaches or constant hunger? Then there’s a good chance you’re dehydrated.
Here are 7 subtle signs that you’re not drinking enough water:
Always feeling thirsty
It’s easy to guess that you drink less water, even though you want to drink it often. But the problem may be more serious than it seems at first glance. Doctors say that dry mouth is the first sign of dehydration. Even the rare urge to go to the bathroom can be a warning signal. Statistics show that healthy people go to the bathroom 4-10 times a day.
If you feel dehydrated, make sure you drink at least one and a half liters of water a day. You can set a reminder on your phone so you don’t forget.
Do you often suffer from headaches? Migraines and headaches can be caused by drinking too little water. According to a study by Verywell Health, dehydration thickens the blood and slows down circulation, which in turn reduces oxygen delivery to the brain. However, a headache isn’t the worst thing. Prolonged dehydration can cause fainting and hallucinations, so drink a glass of water immediately.
Bad breath
Dentist and bacteriologist Harold Katz says dehydration can also be the cause of bad breath. “When you don’t drink enough water, saliva production slows down, which allows bacteria in your mouth to grow more quickly,” Katz says. “We recommend drinking a few glasses of water between meals to flush away food particles and encourage saliva flow.”
I have trouble concentrating.
Do you find yourself stressing over simple tasks or staying late at work when you can’t get anything done? You might be dehydrated. As we’ve written before, a lack of water can reduce blood flow to your brain, which can mean it doesn’t get enough oxygen and nutrients. Try to drink a glass of water every hour and a half. This will help you avoid stress and fatigue. You have little energy
Too little water intake can also cause fatigue and drowsiness. If you haven’t had enough sleep for days, you may not be drinking enough water. Cramps during exercise can also be a cause for concern. If your muscles don’t receive enough oxygen-rich blood, they will contract involuntarily.
Do you suffer from constipation?
Not drinking enough water can cause digestive problems. Not only does water carry oxygen to your brain, it also hydrates your intestines: without enough water, your body can’t digest food properly, which can lead to constipation or, worse, kidney or gallstones.
