With Republic Day coming up, everyone’s curious if it can rake in the big bucks like some past films have.
Sky Force stars Akshay, Nimrat Kaur, Veer Pahadia, and Sara Ali Khan, and it’s based on a true story about Squadron Leader T Vijay, played by Veer. There’s a lot of excitement around this one, and it’s got a good shot at a strong opening, especially since it’s releasing right before a holiday weekend.
Speaking of big releases around Republic Day, let’s take a look at some films that have done really well in the past:
- Pathan: Shahrukh Khan made a huge comeback with Pathan on January 25, 2023, after a four-year break. The film, featuring John Abraham and Deepika Padukone, smashed records and grossed over 1000 crores!
- Padmaavat: Released on January 25, 2018, this one stirred up quite a bit of controversy before it even hit theaters. Despite the drama, it won over audiences and earned more than 400 crores worldwide, starring Deepika, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor.
- Fighter: Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone teamed up for Fighter, which came out on January 25, 2024. This patriotic film, directed by Siddharth Anand, made over 350 crores globally.
- Airlift: Akshay Kumar has a knack for patriotic films, and Airlift, released on January 22, 2016, is no exception. It brought in over 200 crores and featured Akshay alongside Nimrat Kaur.
