Holiday Jamaican Eggnog Recipe

Years ago, when David and I were still dating, we spent a wonderful Christmas in Jamaica. We spent 7 days relaxing, enjoying grilled chicken, beef patties, waves on the beach, traditional Jamaican sorrel, and of course, Jamaican eggnog! We love it so much that David wants to make it a part of our vacation, even though he’s never had eggs before. Today, I’m sharing my own Caribbean Eggnog recipe.

Jamaican Eggnog vs. American Eggnog
One of the main differences I noticed when comparing Jamaican Eggnog to American Eggnog is that it has more of a kick and a bit of a citrus flavor.
The best liquor for making eggnog is usually rum, bourbon, or brandy. You’ll need a good rum and bourbon for this recipe. And you don’t have to choose a premium variety to make a delicious Caribbean eggnog recipe. Any of the inexpensive wines mentioned above will do the job and still taste great. It’s the extra ingredients that make this eggnog recipe so good!

How to make Jamaican eggnog every time? Its smooth, cool, creamy, and spicy flavor will leave you wanting more! Cream

1/2 cup whole milk

1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

1/2 cup Jamaican rum (white or dark)

1/4 cup bourbon

1/2 dark brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 teaspoon nutme

Optional

Cinnamon stick, for garnish

Instructions
Separate the eggs first and set the yolks aside. In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks and brown sugar until slightly thickened. Next, add all of the milk, cream, and coconut to a large saucepan over medium heat. Hot but not boiling. Once mixed, add to mixing bowl and add condensed milk. Stir on medium.

Finally, add rum, bourbon, and vanilla, spices, and lemon zest. Blend over medium heat until smooth, about 1-2 minutes. Pour eggnog into a large saucepan and refrigerate until cool.
